Zena-Rae (she/her, 2001) started DJing in her bedroom during the pandemic. Let’s say this hobby got a little bit out of hand. As an Illustration student at WDKA, she’s happy to diversify her artistic endeavours by sharing music with friends and strangers in DJ sets. How she makes colours and shapes flow in her visual work relates to the way she mixes the shapes and colours of music. With house music as the base, Zena-Rae’s selection creates a high energy vibe with fun and surprising vocals. Acid, ghetto, Italo, deep. It’s hard to describe. Probably best if you just come check it out. Her vibrant presence is infectious and connecting with the crowd comes naturally. As a woman in a male dominated field she thrives on queer dance floors where safety, comfort and expression is key.
